The Perseus constellation is named after the Greek hero Perseus, known for slaying the Gorgon Medusa and rescuing Andromeda from a sea monster.
Perseus was the son of Zeus, the king of the gods, and Danaë, a mortal princess and daughter of Acrisius, the king of Argos. Acrisius, fearing a prophecy that he would be killed by his grandson, locked Danaë in a bronze chamber to prevent her from having children. However, Zeus visited her in the form of a golden shower, and Danaë gave birth to Perseus. To avoid the prophecy, Acrisius cast Danaë and the infant Perseus into the sea in a wooden chest, but they were rescued by a fisherman named Dictys on the island of Seriphos.
Gold - represents divine favour and heroic destiny, Perseus was born of Zeus’s golden shower, symbolizing celestial origin and chosen purpose.
Emerald Green - associated with transformation and rebirth, Medusa’s severed head became a symbol of power and protection.
