The Cancer constellation represents a crab sent by Hera to distract Heracles during his battle with the Hydra, ultimately leading to its placement among the stars as a symbol of sacrifice.

According to the myth, during Heracles' second labor, he was tasked with defeating the multi-headed serpent known as the Hydra. To complicate his task, the goddess Hera, who was jealous of Heracles, sent a giant crab to assist the Hydra in its fight against the hero.

The crab, known as Cancer, attempted to distract Heracles but was quickly defeated and was crushed underfoot. In recognition of its effort, Hera placed the crab among the stars, which is why we see the Cancer constellation today.
