In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the lyre of Orpheus, a gifted musician and poet. Orpheus was the son of Apollo, the god of music, and Calliope, the muse of epic poetry. He was renowned for his ability to charm all living things and even inanimate objects with his music. His lyre, crafted by Hermes from a tortoise shell, was said to produce melodies so beautiful that they could soothe wild beasts and influence nature itself.
Orpheus's most famous tale involves his wife, Eurydice, who tragically died after being bitten by a snake. Heartbroken, Orpheus ventured into the Underworld to retrieve her. His music softened the heart of Hades, the god of the Underworld, who allowed him to take Eurydice back to the living world on the condition that he must not look back at her until they had both reached the surface. Unfortunately, just before exiting, Orpheus turned to look at Eurydice, causing her to be lost to him forever. Zeus, moved by Orpheus's talent and sorrow, sent an eagle to retrieve the lyre and placed both the lyre and the eagle in the sky as the constellation Lyra.
Sapphire Blue - represents the celestial clarity of Vega, symbolising inspiration, truth, and the vastness of the night sky.
Rose Gold - associated with romantic devotion and artistic beauty, Orpheus’s songs were born of love and longing.
Midnight Blue - suggests mystery and cosmic silence, Lyra’s placement in the summer triangle adds a contemplative depth.
